CORRECTION on 6/2/09 A story in Monday's Las Vegas Review-Journal on veto overrides in the Senate incorrectly described Senate Bill 319. The bill relates to sentinel events in the health field. CORRECTION on 4/8/09 A Monday Political Notebook item about legislation on the rights of transgender people should have said an amendment to include the transgender in the state's public accommodation statute was proposed but not approved. CORRECTION on 2/2/09 A photo used in Sunday's Nevada section with a story on the state Legislature incorrectly identified Josh Hicks, chief of staff for Gov. Jim Gibbons. Above is Hicks. (This may have been a photographer or editor error.) Mike Blasky (general assignment reporter) CLARIFICATION on 7/8/10 "Stories that appeared in the Saturday and Monday editions of the Las Vegas Review-Journal about a wildfire in Moapa Valley mistakenly referred to a man who witnessed the fire as amaintenance employee with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The man was contracted by the agency but was not directly employed by the agency, according to Fish and Wildlife officials." CORRECTION on 3/6/10 "A story in Saturday's Review-Journal about an Islamic advocacy group's complaint against the Henderson Police Department contained an error. The seven Muslim men who were detained Dec. 20 while praying in public were dressed in street clothes." Blasky's 2009 corrections: CORRECTION on 11/11/09 A story on H1N1 vaccines in Sunday's Nevada section misstated the number of vaccines given at a Saturday clinic in Henderson. The Southern Nevada Health District says about 2,000 vaccines were administered. CORRECTION on 9/23/09 The writer of the editorial honored this past weekend at the Nevada Press Association banquet as Editorial of the Year was misidentified because of an error in the contest submissions. Glenn Cook, a Review-Journal editorial writer, authored the winning entry, "A budgetary black hole."
Steve Bornfeld (media critic) CORRECTION on 5/5/10 An actress sharing the lead role in the play "The Spitfire Grill" at Las Vegas Academy was misidentified in a story in Neon Thursday on April 29. Her name is Rachel Richards. CORRECTION on 11/27/09 A TV personality was misidentified in Thursday's Mediaology column. Heidi Hayes is the morning anchor on KVVU-TV, Channel 5, not Heidi Harris, who is a radio personality on KDWN-AM, 720. CORRECTION on 2/27/09 In Thursday's Mediaology column, the cost of operating KLVX-TV, Channel 10's transmitter for the next four months was incorrect. The actual cost is $20,000. Henry Brean (Henderson/Boulder City/water reporter) CORRECTION on 1/6/10 A story about courthouse security in Tuesday's edition should have stated that no private security contractors are used at the Clark County Regional Justice Center for screening members of the public as they enter the building. --Brean's 2009 Corrections-- CORRECTION on 12/2/09 A story in Friday's Las Vegas Review-Journal about the outlook for Lake Mead mischaracterized the impact of the shrinking lake on Mexico's allocation of Colorado River water. Current shortage rules do not include specific cuts for Mexico. International talks now under way could address how Mexico would share in a shortage on the river, but those discussions are still in the early stages. CORRECTION on 10/27/09 A story in Friday's Review-Journal about record warm temperatures in September should have said that a trace amount of rain was logged on Sept. 4 at Las Vegas' official weather station. CORRECTION on 8/25/09 Denys Koyle's name was misspelled Friday in a Review-Journal story about a proposed water pipeline to eastern Nevada. Koyle is the long-time owner of the Border Inn near Great Basin National Park. CORRECTION on 8/13/09 Stories in Tuesday's and several other editions of the Review-Journal gave an incorrect age for the boy who died in Death Valley National Park on Aug. 5. Carlos Sanchez was 6 years old. CORRECTION on 7/2/09 A story in Wednesday's edition listed the wrong date for when Henderson's new Ward 2 City Council member will be sworn in. The new member will be appointed on July 8 and sworn in during the July 21 council meeting. CORRECTION ON 4/30/09 A story in Wednesday's Las Vegas Review-Journal gave an incorrect date for the public hearing on the Las Vegas Valley Water District's tentative budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The hearing will be held in the commission chambers at the Clark County government center at 9:45 a.m. May 18.
Alan Choate (City Hall reporter) CORRECTION on 6/10/10 Antoinette Giancana's first name was misspelled in a Las Vegas Review-Journal story Wednesday about the Las Vegas Mob Experience. CORRECTION on 5/28/10 A May 20 Review-Journal story about a proposed development at Fremont Street and Eastern Avenue contained an error. The Pair-A-Dice Motel is open for business although its business license is expired, according to the Las Vegas business licensing office. CLARIFICATION on 12/16/09 A story in Sunday's Review-Journal about the city of Las Vegas' television station, KCLV Channel 2, indicated that funding for the station comes from cable franchise fees. Such franchise fees also fund Clark County's television station, CCTV Channel 4, although they are funneled through the county's general fund.CORRECTION on 8/12/09 A story about wind power in Monday's Review-Journal contained several errors. Wind turbines are rated at various levels (1.5 kilowatts, 2.5 kilowatts) depending on the maximum amount of power they can produce at any given time given an optimum wind speed, which varies by manufacturer but is generally 12 mph to 15 mph. The number of kilowatt-hours produced for a consumer using a wind turbine is difficult to predict because it depends on how much the wind blows over a set period of CORRECTION on 6/20/09 (Correcting a correction) A correction in Friday's Review-Journal misstated the amount the city of Las Vegas has been authorized to borrow to build a proposed new city hall. The amount is as much as $267 million. CORRECTION on 6/19/09 A story about new Las Vegas Councilman Stavros Anthony in Thursday's Las Vegas Review-Journal contained an incorrect council vote tally on a proposal to include in the minutes the fact that the state Taxation Department had approved the city's plan to seek $276 million to build a new city hall. The vote was 5-1, with Anthony opposed. CORRECTION on 6/17/09 A story in Tuesday's Las Vegas Review-Journal about the Las Vegas City Council Ward 4 election contained a voting tally error. Stavros Anthony won the June 2 election with 3,309 votes, and Glenn Trowbridge had 3,299 votes. CORRECTION on 4/18/09 (Unknown photographer) The photo at left, which appeared in Friday's Review-Journal, had an incorrect caption. Dan Polsenberg, an attorney hired by the city of Las Vegas, is standing. Culinary Local 226 attorney Richard McCracken is seated, in the foreground. CORRECTION on 3/3/09 Some of the professional background of Bruce Gale, a candidate for Las Vegas Municipal Court, was incorrect in Thursday's Review-Journal. He was a law clerk for the Clark County district attorney's office. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he was a certified public accountant for seven years. Norm Clarke (gossip columnist) ERROR divulged in a 6/27/10 column "TELEPHONE GAME Ed Henry, CNN's chief White House correspondent, was putting some final touches on his Las Vegas wedding plans last month. Hoping to add a surprise to the ceremony, Henry left a voice mail message for longtime Las Vegas Elvis impersonator Brendan Paul. Or so he thought. A guy named Branden called and said he got the message, adding, "You may have me confused, but I'd be more than happy to have the reception at my '80s-themed yogurt shop." Henry figured out he got the wrong phone number from a certain Las Vegas gossip columnist (think pirate). On the phone was Branden Powers, a longtime local nightclub marketing executive who recently opened I Love Yogurt at 11700 W. Charleston Blvd. Powers' telephone number was one line below Paul's in my cell phone..." CORRECTION buried in a 6/16/10 column A case of mistaken identity: That was not Elaine Wynn at Mundo last week at the Las Vegas Design Center.CORRECTION buried in a 5/24/10 column Correction : "Love Ranch" is not the first time Taylor Hackford directed his wife, Helen Mirren. They teamed up in "White Nights" in 1985. CORRECTION in the form of a column re-write 3/25/10 Clarke's entire Wayne Newton item of 3/24/10 is refuted by Clarke's 3/25/10 item. "W ayne Newton's publicist says a process server failed in his attempt to deliver legal documents to the Tropicana headliner Saturday. 'Never happened ... completely false,' said Trish McCrone, who said she was with Newton during the pre-show meet-and-greet session." CORRECTION buried in a 3/8/10 column "Speaking of that faulty memory of mine, saloonkeeper Henry Poreda at Sonny's Saloon on Industrial Road pointed out, in a kind way, that in Sunday's column I had Richie Sambora as a drummer for Bon Jovi, instead of Tico Torres. Poreda knows this 'because Richie and Tico played my club in Mercerville, N.J., every Wednesday for over a year prior to hooking up with Jon Bon Jovi. Richie's band was called The Next. I paid them $150 per night, and that included their sound man ... ah the good ol' days.' CORRECTION hidden in a 2/7/10 column In Saturday's column, I mistakenly had Gilley's going into the Christian Audigier Nightclub at Treasure Island. It's going into the combined space formerly occupied by Mist nightclub and Francesco's Italian restaurant. Clarke's 2009 corrections.. CORRECTION on 11/19/09 Because of an editing mistake, an item in Norm Clarke's column on Monday was incorrect. Bill Walton told a gathering Saturday at the Palms to celebrate veteran sports reporter Jim Gray's 50th birthday that he did Gray a disservice and owed him an apology. Walton recalled a time when Phil Jackson refused to do a post-game interview if Gray were in the room. Gray eventually left the room, and Walton filled in for him. "I should have punched (Jackson) in the nose and walked out," Walton said. CORRECTION buried in 11/5/09 column Correction: The contract extension for Flamingo headliners Donny & Marie, mentioned here Wednesday, should have stated they are splitting a guaranteed $125,000 per week, not per show.

CORRECTION on 10/08/09: An item in Norm Clarke’s column Wednesday included an inaccurate reference to a Las Vegas public radio station. Food critics John Curtas and Max Jacobson are co-hosting the State of Nevada broadcast once a month on KNPR-FM, 88.9. Their next program is from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, with a rebroadcast from 8 to 10 p.m.
CORRECTION on 7/20/09 Luke Brugnara, who leased his home to Michael Jackson in 2007, says his listing agent was mistaken in an item that ran in Norm Clarke's Friday column. Brugnara said the home was not foreclosed and in fact was sold for a profit.

CORRECTION buried in a 5/9/09 column: Correction: The probe of former Crazy Horse Too owner Rick Rizzolo was separate from the corruption investigation that sent several county officials to prison. Stan Hunterton, a former prosecutor with the Justice Department's Organized Strike Force, made the "infamous hoodlum" comment about Rizzolo during Rizzolo's racketeering trial.
CORRECTION buried in a 4/24/09 column: Correction: A news release that stated Cher fans had only "33 more opportunities" to see her before her Dec. 20 finale at Caesars Palace led to the erroneous conclusion that she had completed her run at the Colosseum. Her contract continues into 2010.
CORRECTION buried in a 4/17/09 column item Correction: I'm dangerous on the dance floor and off. In Thursday's space, I mentioned local talent Chelsie Hightower, one of the professional dancers on "Dancing With the Stars," is a niece of former Clark County Commissioner Chip Maxfield. So far so good. Then I stumbled, saying she and her partner, Stevo-O, were voted off the show on Tuesday. My BlackBerry has been overheating from diehard "Dancing" fans who let me know Chelsie, 18, is alive and well on the show and a big hit in just her first year. She and retired rodeo champ Ty Murray, the seven-time All-Around champion, have been kicking you know what. Her mother, Laurie Pullan Hightower, is a 1978 Western High graduate.

Lynette Curtis (social services, North Las Vegas reporter) CORRECTION on 3/23/10 A story and photo caption in Monday's Review-Journal about a wastewater treatment facility being built by North Las Vegas incorrectly identified the facility's location. The treatment plant is being built on land leased from the U.S. Air Force at Carey Avenue, south of Nellis Air Force Base.
