Babies and bathwater

sherm on the mikeRJ Publisher Sherman Frederick wrote another incoherent blog post Wednesday.

Apparently, Frederick wants to criticize Sen. Harry Reid with the erroneous label of pro-choice.

Reid is a fairly consistent pro-life voter. We've yet to see him vote for taxpayer funding of abortion and nothing changed that this week when he voted down the Nelson amendment that had nothing to do with killing babies (to use Sherm's terms) but with killing health care reform.

Here's what the health care bill actually does say with respect to abortion. (Again, if Sherm would read the bill, he wouldn't have to make stuff up.)

Federal laws about abortion remain unchanged. Taxpayer money is still not used to fund abortions (except in cases of rape, incest or to save the mother's life.)

And the Senate bill guarantees that pro-lifers like Sherm can choose at least one insurance plan on the Exchange that does not cover abortion services regardless of whether private funds are used.

So, it would seem that Reid's compromise, which doesn't leave choice activists too thrilled, is exactly that -- a compromise between pro and anti-choice groups.

Sherm just throws the baby out with the anti-Reid bathwater.

Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
