Laura Myers' panties are in a bunch.

Well, at least that's the general theme of her Sunday article about Sharron Angle -- an article whose basic premise is -- oh shit, Angle's tanking.

Whatever.

Anyway, maybe Myers should've pointed out the last candidate to use "Help is on the Way" as a campaign slogan.

It doesn't portend well for Ms. Angle as John Kerry trotted that out against W. in 2004.

Also Sunday, the RJ led with a very high margin of error survey of a tiny amount of CD3 voters showing essentially that a coin flip is as good a predictor of the voters' actions in the Third this year as Mason-Dixon's attempted poll there.

The worst poll question of the worst was also showcased Sunday. Doug McMurdo took on the Citizens United case without a properly-framed question.

We think a better indication fo how the public feels would be gained if the RJ asked: "The Supreme Court recently ruled that corporations and unions have the same rights as individuals."

McMurdo murders Erik Herzik's name in the piece, too. No correction as of yet. Maybe even the people who get interviewed by the RJ don't read it.

Also Sunday, John L. Smith seems to be doing his righteous part trying to balance the heavily-tilted scales back to the center in the Senate race.

Finally someone at the RJ writes about Angle's God comments.

Lastly on Sunday, Sherm went marching again on his Reid Rants.

This time he called the Reid Machine response to Angle "Hate Her" advertising. Since it's just showing Angle's own statements, it hardly comes in as negative. http://www.lvrj.com/opinion/reid-s-angle--money-can-t-buy-him-love-98696064.html

Wouldn't want facts to get in the way of the publisher, though, would we?

On Saturday the RJ made its best effort at Correction of the Year, changing a police story to reveal the "condition" of the suspect. Dead vs. Alive is a pretty basic deal. Of course, the RJ couldn't sort it out thanks to what it claims is bad info from the cops. At any rate, this is a sure shot for the Correction of the Year rankings. Lawrence Mower has the dubious distinction of having his byline attached to the changing article.

"An article that appeared in Friday's Review-Journal about an officer-involved shooting in the northwest Las Vegas Valley Thursday night incorrectly reported the condition of the person shot based on misinformation from police. He survived."

There was also a clarification.

The Southern Nevada Health District spokeswoman clarified statements she made in a story published Thursday in the Review-Journal. She said health district officials discussed opening a labor contract involving the Service Employees International Union but never made a formal request to do so.

We'll chalk the official knock in the tally to Scott Wyland. Oops. Nothing like opening up labor talks without both parties being notified.

Also Saturday, there was more out-right-wing coverage of the polls.

http://www.lvrj.com/news/sandoval-still-holds-big-lead-98647599.html

Ed Vogel makes the presumption people don't prefer Rory Reid because of his father. Yet that wasn't asked of the voters surveyed. They were merely given a somewhat straightforward look at the choice.

The other Vogel poll story is just as bad.

The RJ's own poll has four of the five incumbents for constitutional offices leading their respective races. That's three Democrats and one Republican ahead of their challengers. But the headline is way down the ticket to treasurer where the GOP challenger is ahead of the Democratic incumbent.

Shouldn't the more accurate headline be that incumbents look good, with one exception?

Or does the GOP candidate who is polling ahead of Kate Marshall get the nod because he's Republican?

Jane Ann Morrison gives a look at campaign finance disclosures in the Senate race. http://www.lvrj.com/news/when-candidate-financial-reports-are-anti-disclosure-forms-98658909.html

At least someone at the paper is looking. But once again we get Morrison's new favorite word "thwacked."
